Following the sold-out success last year, London Ambulance Charity will once again host its Christmas carol service at the iconic St Bride’s Church on Thursday 17 December.
Last year, the service raised £4,500 to put more defibrillators in public places in communities throughout London. Having access to this equipment can mean the difference between life and death.
The service falls right in the heart of winter, which is always an extremely busy and challenging period for London Ambulance Service. In addition to raising money for life saving defibrillators, a night of Christmas carolling and merriment is an opportunity to show appreciation for the staff who work tirelessly caring for Londoners.
London Ambulance Service Chief Executive Jason Killens KAM said:
“We are gearing up for a very busy winter, a period that will be demanding for our staff. They will be working relentlessly to save lives across the capital. This wonderful carol service is a chance to show appreciation to those who dedicate their lives to caring for Londoners.
“The money raised will also protect communities by enabling us to install more vital defibrillators across London. Every community in London deserves to have access to this life-saving equipment.”
When someone goes into cardiac arrest, the actions of others before the ambulance arrives can more than double a person’s chances of survival. Chest compressions – or CPR – can keep the blood pumping to the brain and other vital organs in the moments before our expert crews arrive. A defibrillator can restore a heart’s normal rhythm.
Jessica Burgess, Head of the London Ambulance Charity, said:
“Christmas is the season of giving, and by attending our carol service, you will be gifting a London community an important lifeline.
“Bring your singing voice and your festive cheer, and together we will celebrate the amazing people at London Ambulance Service.”
